Gravy without Drippings

You don’t need the drippings to make delicious gravy. Made with beef stock and a roux, you can make an easy brown gravy without drippings! This easy homemade gravy recipe makes a perfect foolproof batch of gravy every time. it is perfect for the holidays or a simple weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • tablespoons butter salted or unsalted
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups beef broth or stock
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the flour once all of the butter melts.
  • Stir continuously for about 2 minutes until a thick paste forms, forming a roux.
  • Slowly add the beef broth to the saucepan in small amounts. Stirring or whisking continuously to incorporate ingredients.
  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix to combine.
  • Taste the gravy and add more seasoning if needed.
