Honey Garlic Pasta?
At first, the idea of a honey garlic pasta was kinda odd. But after thinking about it some more, since we love eating spicy honey garlic chicken, why wouldn't we love it in a pasta form! It's a nice twist from regular traditional cheesy/tomato base pasta.
This is a super easy and delicious one pot pasta and can be made in two ways. One way is what I'm sharing down below. The other method is that you would be cooking the chicken all the way through in the first round, setting it aside, then adding it back into the pasta afterwards. It's up to you how it'd like to make it but I prefer my "lazy" one pot method down below!
What You'll Need
- sesame oil - browning the chicken in sesame oil gives it a more earthy, nutty flavour than olive oil.
- chicken - I use boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- salt + pepper
- garlic - in my opinion, the more the merrier.
- honey
- sriracha - this can be easily adjusted to suit your tastes. Less or more/optional!
- brown sugar - a dark brown sugar to add a deeper depth of sweetness.
- soy sauce - low sodium
- chicken stock
- pasta - I picked rotini
- peas - I use frozen peas
- parmesan cheese
- green onions
How To Make This One Pot Pasta
- In a large pot or dutch oven, coat the bottom of the pot with sesame oil over medium heat. Add in chicken. Season with salt and pepper and brown the chicken for 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Add in garlic, honey, and sriracha and stir to combine.
- Add in the brown sugar, soy sauce, chicken stock, and rotini pasta and bring to a boil.
- Lower the heat back down to a simmer and let the pasta cook for 8-9 minutes, stirring occasionally so nothing gets stuck to the bottom.
- Add in the parmesan and peas, stir and let cook for another 2-3 minutes or until the pasta has cooked through.
- Serve as is or with green onions as a garnish.
Recipes Variations
- Swap out sriracha for gochujang or hot sauce of your choice.
- Frozen peas can be swapped for any frozen vegetables of your choice.
- Chicken breasts can be swapped with chicken thighs
Tips and Notes
- I love adding crispy fried onions on top of the pasta to add an extra crunch to the pasta as well.
- If your pasta needs more liquid, add ¼ cup. If you find that your pasta has too much liquid, let the liquid cook off for longer or add additional parmesan cheese to thicken the sauce.
- Leftovers can be reheated on the stovetop.
