Why You'll Love This Recipe
This is such an easy weeknight dinner! This recipe was adapted from this beefaroni recipe and let me tell you, adding cream to this pasta makes it SO deliciously rich. You'll love making this creamy beef pasta in your Instant Pot!
- it takes under 30 minutes
- it's super versatile
- it's great for both adults and kiddos
What You'll Need
- olive oil
- shallots: this can be substituted for onions if you don't have shallots
- salt
- garlic
- ground beef: lean ground beef. if you're using some with more fat content, be sure to drain the liquid after browning.
- pasta shells (Conchiglie): or any type of pasta you have that has grooves to hold onto the sauce and beef.
- passata sauce: the bottles I have are 680mL which is just a bit more than 2.5 cups
- sriracha: this is optional for those who like an extra kick
- beef stock
- heavy cream
- parmesan
How To Make This Pasta in Your Instant Pot
- On sauté mode, add in your olive oil, shallots, and salt. Give it a stir for a minute to soften them before adding in garlic. Stir for another minute before adding in the ground beef.
- Brown the ground beef in the Instant Pot for 2-4 minutes, breaking up large pieces.
- Add in a splash of your beef stock to deglaze your pot (scrape and loosen any browned bits on the bottom of the Instant Pot with the stock).
- Layer in the passata sauce, sriracha sauce, pasta, and finally the rest of your beef stock. Do not stir. Gently pat the pasta into the liquid if needed.
- Place on your lid, seal, and select manual and set for 5 minutes.
- When done, quick release the pressure, stir in the heavy cream and parmesan. Serve when done.
Recipes Variations
- you can stir in frozen vegetables to mix this up! when reheating, I like to stir in some frozen peas just to change things up a little.
- ground beef can be swapped with ground turkey or pork
Tips and Notes
- You cannot substitute the passata for a tomato sauce. Passata is an uncooked tomato purée that has been strained of seeds and skins. It is also thinner than your traditional tomato sauce which is why this recipe does not burn vs using a thick sauce.

This recipe was simple and delicious. Will definitely add pears for the leftovers, and probably some fresh herbs. The Siracha was lovely- just a hint of a kick!
