This easy garlic bread pizza recipe combines two classic comfort foods that everyone loves! Delightful pizza flavors loaded on top of crispy homemade garlic bread, making this garlic bread pizza an indulgent meal or an easy appetizer in under 30 minutes!
Homemade garlic bread + pizza = the best combination for an easy weeknight bite. You'll have it done faster than ordering pizza to go. You will want to make this weekly!
Why You'll Love This Recipe
- It's extremely easy to make. If you can butter bread to toast, then you can make this pizza garlic bread.
- Most of these ingredients are kitchen staples! So it's easy for me to quickly whip this up when I'm craving it.
- When I'm craving something cozy and indulgent, I enjoy the garlic pizza bread on its own as a meal, but it's also perfect for sharing as an appetizer!
Ingredients You'll Need
- butter — I use unsalted butter. Feel free to use salted butter and skip the added salt. Make sure the butter is at room temperature so you can easily mix the butter with the garlic.
- parsley — I like adding fresh parsley to the garlic butter but you can also use dried parsley or skip it entirely.
- garlic — fresh garlic is a must for the best homemade garlic bread! I don't like using pre-minced jarred garlic as there's an aftertaste to it.
- salt — just a pinch.
- bread — I use a long loaf of fresh ciabatta but feel free to use what you prefer! French bread is great as well.
- marinara sauce — you can use homemade marinara sauce or store-bought. My go-to sauce is Rao’s. You can also get some with additional flavors, such as basil, mushrooms, etc, to change the recipe up.
- cheeses — I use both mozzarella and parmesan cheese. The mozzarella creates a melty base while the parmesan adds a rich, tangy, nutty flavor.
- pepperoni — I use regular pepperoni, but turkey pepperoni is great too!
- red pepper flakes — you can add a pinch for some heat. It's optional!
How To Make Garlic Bread Pizza
- Heat the oven to 400F.
- Add the room-temperature butter, parsley, garlic, and salt to a bowl and mix well to combine.
- Slice the bread in half and place it on a parchment-lined sheet pan. Spread the garlic butter mixture in an even layer across the cut side of each piece of bread.
- Bake the garlic bread for 5 minutes.
- Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the garlic bread and add the mozzarella and parmesan evenly over the top of the bread.
- Add the pepperoni slices over the cheese and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Optional to broil for a minute at the end if desired.
- Top with additional parmesan and red pepper flakes if desired.
Tips and Notes
- Give the garlic pizza bread a minute or two to cool before cutting to give the cheese a chance to hold together. If you cut too early, the cheese will just be stuck to your knife or pizza cutter.
- Other cheeses I love to use include provolone, goat cheese, monterey jack, and burrata.
- If you're not a fan of chopping and mixing, you can add the butter, garlic cloves, parsley, and salt to a food processor and let it do the chopping and mixing for you. However, this does make for more dishes to wash.
- Onions, basil, pineapple, and bell peppers make for great additional toppings.
Once cooled, store the garlic bread pizza in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
For sure! It's like freezing homemade garlic bread or pizza! Once cooled, wrap the entire garlic bread or cut pieces tightly in plastic before transferring to a freezer-safe bag. Freeze for up to 3 months, then reheat directly from frozen.
