- The bacon and brussels sprouts get so crispy in the air fryer! I'm absolutely obsessed.
Ingredients You'll Need to Make Brussels Sprouts with Bacon in the Air Fryer
- brussels sprouts — try to buy brussels sprouts that are similar in size so they air fry evenly. If you have some teeny tiny ones, you can place them in whole. To prepare the, you must trim them by cutting off the bottom of the sprout before cutting them in half. Discard any brown leaves.
- olive oil — you can also use avocado oil or another neutral oil.
- seasoning — I season the brussels sprouts with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. You can also add a pinch of cayenne pepper if you would like.
- bacon — chopped bacon adds some smoky flavour to them. However, if you want to keep side dish vegetarian friendly, you can skip it. I use thick cut bacon so they don't shrivel up and disappear haha. I find some of the thin ones are mostly fat, so I prefer thick cut.
How To Make This Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts with Bacon Recipe
- Add the halved brussels sprouts to a large bowl. Drizzle the olive oil over top.
- Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to the brussels sprouts.
- Toss until evenly coated.
- Add the bacon to the brussels sprouts. Mix until the bacon is evenly distributed throughout the brussels sprouts.
- Transfer the brussels sprouts to your air fryer basket in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer basket, you'll need to do this in two batches.
- Air fry for 13 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket half way through.
Tips and Notes
- There's no need to spray the basket with oil before transferring the brussels sprouts and bacon. There's enough oil coating the brussels sprouts and coming off the bacon that everything will crisp up perfectly.
- Make sure to air fry in two batches if your basket is small. If the brussels sprouts are too tightly packed in the basket, they'll steam instead of crisp up.
- Cooking time varies based on how large your brussels sprouts are. Also, keep in mind, if the brussels are large, the inside might not be as tender compared to smaller ones as the bacon will definitely cook up first. Adjust how you chop your bacon with larger sprouts.
- Want an extra savory touch? Grate some fresh parmesan over the brussels sprouts and bacon while still hot.
You can store leftover brussels sprouts and bacon in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
I don't recommend using frozen brussels sprouts.
